Two postdoctoral positions in analysis / applied mathematics at the Center for Mathematics of the Technical University of Munich

created by cicalese on 24 Apr 2012

Deadline: 28 may 2012

Two postdoctoral positions (E13) are available at Center for Mathematics, Technische Universitaet Muenchen, Chair for Analysis, with starting date 1.10.2012 (or thereafter), in association with Professors M. Cicalese and G. Friesecke.

Appointments are offered for one year in the first instance, and are renewable for up to three years.

Two main research themes in our group are variational analysis of atomistic and continuum mechanical systems and the study of methods and algorithms in electronic structure theory.

Successful candidates will have a solid education in mathematics, will hold or are about to complete a PhD in mathematics or physics, and will have previous expertise in a relevant area (e.g. qualitative theory of partial differential equations, calculus of variations, multiscale methods, atomistic-to-continuum limits, quantum many-particle systems, electronic structure).

Applicants should send a CV, list of publications, and two letters of recommendation to:
