diastasis function is a powerful tool introduced by E.</span></i><i><span lang="EN-US"> <span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">Calabi to study the existence of
holomorphic and isometric immersions</span></span> <span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">of Kaehler manifolds into complex space forms. The criterion Calabi</span>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">provides to determine whether or not a Kaehler
manifold admits such an</span> immersion is theoretically impeccable but
difficult to be applied and <span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial"> many questions are still open. The aim of this
talk is to introduce</span> <span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial"> the diastasis function and to give an overview
of the open problems</span> related.</i></font></p>
