<p>The topic of network control and optimization has been of increasing<br>
importance in many networking application domains, such as mobile<br>
and fixed access networks, computer networks, social networks and<br>
transportation networks. These all require tools (both conceptual and<br>
algorithmic) for a better and more efficient control operation, for<br>
optimization of their performance, and/or for a better understanding<br>
of the relationships between entities that may be cooperative or act<br>
selfishly, and in an uncertain and possibly adversarial environment.</p>
<p>The goal of this international forum is to bring together researchers<br>
from different areas with theoretical expertise in game theory, control,<br>
and optimization, and with applications in the domains listed above.</p>

The Conference on Optimization and Practices in Industry (COPI'11)<br>
will be held in November 23-25, 2011, Paris, France. <br>

This conference is devoted to optimization techniques applied to

problems that occur over a wide panel of industries (energy, banking,<br>
transportation and network management). <br>
The purpose is to bring together people from academia and industry to
share<br>
different experiences and discuss future trends related to this area.

theoretical and practical issues will be considered. <br>

6- Conic Optimization<br>

Special issue for PACIFIC JOURNAL of OPTIMIZATION<br>
<br>
Over the last two decades, there has been a significant advance in<br>
the research of interior point methods and conic optimization.<br>
Today conic optimization has emerged as a major computational<br>
paradigm and has made significant impact on numerous problems<br>
previously considered intractable or difficult to approximate.<br>
This special issue aims to solicit papers that provide original research<br>
on conic optimization theory and algorithms, including available
software.<br>
Also welcome are papers that deal with emerging, meaningful
applications;<br>
or that give friendly overviews of certain theoretically advanced conic<br>
optimization techniques relevant to applications.<br>
<br>
Examples of topics that will be addressed in this special issue include,<br>
but are not limited to:<br>
- Theory and algorithms for large scale conic optimization<br>
- Computational study of conic optimization algorithms<br>
- Relaxation techniques based on conic optimization<br>
- Applications of conic optimization in science and engineering (e.g.,
image<br>
processing, compressed sensing, digital communications and networks)<br>
