ABSTRACT: I will discuss the construction of (fractal) sets in
metric<BR> spaces and visit the following topics: (1) Separation
conditions for<BR> self-similar mappings in metric spaces. In
particular the open set<BR> condition and requirements that
accompany it. (2) An approach to study<BR> set constructions in
metric spaces which, for example, do not support<BR> any non-trivial
similitude mappings. (3) The simple and yet powerful<BR> idea of
mixing self-similar constructions. Some examples in Carnot<BR>
groups will be given.</FONT><BR></FONT></DIV>
