The main focus of this exploratory workshop is to bring together leading experts and young researchers in Calculus of Variations, PDE, Mathematical Physics, Biology and Image processing interested in the analysis of evolution phenomena where singular sets such as networks of points, curves and surfaces enter in an essential way in the description of the problems. Their analysis requires sophisticated tools and a interdisciplinary approach, and poses new challenging mathematical problems.

The participation of young researchers is encouraged, and some financial support will be provided.

Topics to be covered in this workshop are related to:

models in condensed matter Physics (superconductivity, Bose-Einstein condensation, nonlinear optics...); spatially extended gradient flow-type systems (vectorial Allen-Cahn type models); evolution of biological systems; dynamics of wound healing and tissue repair; dynamics of dislocations; geometric evolution equations.
